Informations
Machines by KLIPPFELD are beautiful and reliable. Made in Austria. The precise ranges of application can be extended considerably by means of a few additional equipment pieces. We also have made all efforts to implement the many years of experience of our company in the construction of machine tools of any kind already during design and construction in order to be able to offer them at favourable prices and to unite a maximum of advantages in our machines.
Where else can you get so many different variations or extra-accessories? E.g. a tail stock with quick-clamping unit (standard), precision turning feed forward unit, Adjusting of workpiece at the main spindle with holding fixture, set for turning of fits, electronically controlled revolutions, a totally silent automatic feed transmission, push-button operation, 2-motor-stages to be able to use 2 different speeds in both directions each and much more.
Our machines are in accordance with the EU standards, are of the quality suited for a precision mechanic and are characterized by extreme running smoothness (extremely silent and almost vibration free – only bearing noise!), exact and beautiful design, clean threads and surfaces, deburred edges, electrical safety system etc.
The electrical system of our machines allows comfortable and safe working: directional switch for turning right hand, stop, turning left hand, an additional push-button, illuminated in green for starting the machine, a red push-button to stop, electrical safety system, belt cover protected by a safety switch
Important accessories are included in the basic equipment already in order to allow the immediate start of the work with the machine. E.g.: 3-jaws turning chuck and counter jaws, 4-fold turning chisel holding fixture, splashboard etc.
The handling of our machines is particularly easy and suited for practical applications. They have design features that even much more expensive machines of our competitors do not have.
almost noiseless and vibration free (the motor has a clamping unit for fixation!)
comfortable large tool rests on headstock and tail stock
push-button operation - ("start"-button illuminated in green)
the small upper support has been made extra rugged and long in order to allow the turning of long cones as well.
each support is adjustable and can be clamped.
The headstock can be adjusted sideways at any time.
The gib of the bed slide is made of brass for a much better sliding ability!
the play (tolerance) of the nuts of the feed-spindles is readjustable.
mm-scale in front of the bed and even on the tail stock pinole
The hand wheel of the bed slide is mounted on the right hand side (and not left) - therefore the hot chips won't get onto your hand while using this hand wheel.
Important areas of the leading spindle and the spindle for crossfeed are covered against chips and protected against overload.
7 diferent spindle speeds in the basic version, 14 with 2 motor stages or without steps with the electronic system
The thread cutting equipment with aufwendigen Wendeherz allows the cutting of left hand and right hand metric, inch and module threads. With the replacement wheels made out of steel (accessories) lots of coarses are possible.
The main spindles are equipped with precision tapered roller bearings. All driven shafts and wheels are provided with ball bearings. The feeding spindle for the transversal carriage is provided with a ball bearing, too. Even the tail stock is equipped with a thrust bearing for absorbing the forces during drilling. Therefore the spindle turns easily.
The 3-stage forward feed gear system is completely silent (important at high speed!)
An extra turning chisel clamping plate is included in the basic equipment in order to allow the clamping of large turning chisels (up to 20mm)as well.
Klippfeld lathes can be equipped with a very high number of accessories: milling head F-10, height support, plain face plates with 4 attachment slots, hand rest, longitudinal bed stop with 4-fold revolver head, material stop for the spindle, vertical stay, quick-action turning chisel holding fixture, precision collet chucks and many more.
A rugged and rugged machine cast bed with reinforcing ribs and with two ground bed ways. The bed ways are practically unbreakable (large sliding surface), the front bed way is provided with a 60° slant in order to guarantee an exact guiding with out play (this means in upward direction, too!) of the table saddle (therefore the turned surface looks particularly perfect). At the rear of of the bed there are the recieving surfaces for the vertical column and the four threaded holes.
At the front side the leading spindle (3mm trapezoidal thread) and the feed rod are guided on the left and the right side and provided with a ball bearing. The leading spindle serves for the transport in longitudinal direction of the table saddle during te automatic longitudinal turning and/or during the thread cutting. The feed rod serves for facing (transverse feed).
All the guides, even those of the spindle head and the tail stock can be readjusted.
When tighteneing the tailstock always is pressed to the front track because of a 60° slant and this way maximum repeatable clamping exactitude is achieved. The tailstock is provided with a longitudinal cone adjusting unit.
The exactitude of adjustment of +/- 0.01mm is possible very easily with our set for the turning of fits (with 0.01mm dial gauge - advantage: low procurement cost and no batteries needed!) - it works even more comfortably with the digital position indication - the engraved scale ring has a graduation of 0.05mm.
The main spindle is provided with a short conical clamping - MK3 - and with a clamping for the precision collet chucks.
Precision collet chucks are directly inserted into the main spindle and tightened from behind by means of a tie bar. Upon request a quick-action collet chuck clamping head can also be mounted.
At thoroughly dimensioned precision bearing has been paid special attention to by us: main spindle: 2pcs. precision tapered roller bearings, honed (therefore perfect turning result), the bearing play can be readjusted by means of a threaded ring; Leading spindle: deep groove ball bearing left and right; Feed rod: Left and right deep groove ball bearing; Gear: 2 pcs deep groove ball bearings; Forward feed gear system: 2 pcs deep groove ball bearings; Tailstock: heavy thrust bearing; Milling feed spindle: heavy thrust bearing; Even the facing spindle for the the transverse feed is provided with a ball bearing.
Various automatic travel speeds, also precision turning with feed forward precision turning unit. Upon reaching the end of the forward travel (e.g. by means of a stop) - automatic standstill of the feed forward driving unit (clutch coupling!).
For serial work: 4-fold-revolverhead-longitudinal bed stop, coolant pump, quick-action chisel holding fixture, material stop for spindle and many more available. If the material stop is mounted in the main spindle, the workpiece can be clamped at always the same low position. When mounting the bed stop at the same time it therefore is possible to turn many workpieces to the same length at various stages (4 different turning lengths) during one clamping.
Quick-action chisel holding fixtures, in which the turning chisels are clamped individually, are particularly practical. By simply turning one adjusting nut, the turning steel is put into the center. No more need to apply shims for achieving the center. Precision and exactitude during the repetition when replacing these tool holding fixtures (is already used by almost all of the workshops!).
Before the delivery of a machine all the functions and properties (e.g.: surface quality) are checked and test turnings (over a lenghth of 120mm +/-0.01mm parallel) performed by means of a test record.

Description of the machine
We do warrant a guarantee of 3 years on our machines. This applies on function and construction but not on deficiencies which were caused by the usual abrasion or by faulty operation.

FAQ
Before buying a lathe you should consider a few important points in order to be able to work properly after the purchase!
Are the rotations sufficient?

Slow rotations for example are necessary for the tapping with a cutting chisel – especially with inside threads in sack extended rotations. Fast rotations for example are necessary for the turning of small shaft fits.
Loudness of the machine?

The machine should not be loud or even make clattered noises which cause negative effects on the rotary image.
Where on the machine is the electric motor assembled?

The electric motor should be firmly located and should not only impend on a compensator (otherwise great vibrations will arise during the turning)! The prime mover should work many years! Also it should be covered so chips won’t constantly be aspirated which in return would hamper the ventilator wings and cause a loud cracking and knocking.
Alteration of the chart speed?

Do you have to change cogwheels while altering the chart speed or do you have the possibility to change the feed with an actuating lever from the outside? Is the feed also noiseless (important with fast rotations)?
Bearing of spindle and tailstock?

Is the main spindle mounted with precision-taper roller bearings or with normal roller bearings? Are all driven spindles and wheels roller bearded? Has the tailstock a thrust-bearing block to absorb the powers while drilling? Is the deliver spindle of the plan support ball bearded?
Clamping the tailstock?

Has the tailstock a fast clamping lever or is it intricately fixated with a nut where a flat spanner is constantly in the way?
Has the guide screw an overload protection for the straight turning?

Covering of the guide screw?

Is the guide spindle covered on the most important parts and therefore safe from chips? Otherwise the chips would damage nut and guide screw!
Threading with change gears?

Is it possible to cut special threads also in usual pitches (metric or inch)? Are the cogwheels made out of steel or only out of plastic?
How does the assembly work with clamp grippers?

Do smoothed precision clamp grippers fit directly in the guide spindle which because of this will be running precisely for years or do you use a clamp gripper head which shows rotational imperfections after a while, costs extra money and whose wide clearance to the spindle bearing vibrates sooner during turning?
Support of the smaller upper support?

The small upper support requires the biggest possible seating over the whole cross slide so it won’t tilt or vibrate – important with a greater chip removal!
Graduated collars?

Are the graduated collars engraved with the respective pitch or are they only cast or painted? Are they tightly screwed or limited twistable?
Protective cover of the jaw chuck?

The jaw chuck has to be covered; otherwise there is a risk of accident!
Box and belt cover

Made out of steel or only plastic?
The correct adjustment of the centre height?

The ratio centre height to bed amplitude should always be accurate in order to turn good fits! The precision will suffer from a too large centre height!
Is the lathe well constructed?

Only then it can twist off heavy chipping without clattering!
Do you get divers mountings and replacement parts in an acceptable time of delivery?
